I quit my job at the end of 2018 with no other job lined up. Crazy, right? You may be in a similar position or you’re miserable at work and have considered leaving. I was working at a small marketing company and felt like I had no direction whatsoever. I started to resent the way I was being treated and didn’t believe in anything the company was doing. My body began responding negatively to my experiences at work. Normally, I’m up early and as time continued, it became more difficult to wake up on time even with an alarm. It was a drag.
In November, I was told my hours would involuntarily be reduced to part-time for about three weeks in December. It was then that my gears started moving towards an exit. The thought of being at this job any longer seriously depressed me, but the thought of running away without a job lined up scared me. It ultimately came down to money versus my well-being.
I chose my well-being though it didn’t mean I could go on a vacation or not put in work to look for another job. I’m currently unemployed and if you find yourself in a similar position for whatever reason then I have a few things to share with you during this journey. Stay tuned to my next post to find out how I stay motivated and on top of my job search.
